Sick... at the wrong time!!!

Falling sick is not fun at all, especially at the wrong time!

Just finished first paper (Nursing Assessment & Care) on Monday. I think I passed. The MCQs were alright, but SAQ were not so good.

Started having itchy nose yesterday afternoon. This morning it got worse. As of now, my nose is "leaking", and my eyes are watery. I couldn't concentrate and study for the whole day! And i have Nursing Science 1 paper tomorrow morning!! This is really a bad timing. >.<

I need lots of luck now to pass my exam tomorrow...

In denial

Yes, I'm in denial.

Got a shocking news last night. I'm still in shock. And denial. I know there's nothing I can do now, but wait. But still in denial. Brain has stop functioning since last night. Tear gland has gone hyperactive. Trying to gain back control.

Into SWOTVAC this week. Placement ended almost 2 weeks ago dy. Handed in all assignments, ended all lectures, lab and tutorial. Which means now only final exams left.

Which also means that I need my brain to function fully.

But I can't even read my notes. They look blank to me. Maybe my brain is blank.

Blank

Towards the end of Easter break

and i'm so reluctant to end the holidays!!

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Another 17 days have passed since i last blog. Studies part, busy as always. Lots of assignments, take home exam, and lots of things to memorise. Clinical part, having a little bit of changes, but I'm definitely enjoying every part of it.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Easter break started on Good Friday last week. The past weekend was more of cooking, eating, eating out, cooking and eating again. Did nothing much but relaxed and watched anime.

Went out to Mornington Peninsula with housemates here in Graduate House. Finalised the trip pretty late, although the idea of going for a trip has been there for more than 2 weeks. Rented a car, not much planning of specific places to go, but off we went on road. The whole journey was enjoyable, simple and relaxing.

We first arrived in Dromana to the Tourist Information Centre. Got some recommendation from a friendly staff there. Had our morning tea at Dromana, where i had this huge slice of Marks/Mars cake served with 2 scoops of vanila ice cream. It was heavenly, and definitely sinful.

We continued journey to Cape Shank. Nice place, with short board walk to the end of the rocks. Enjoyed the view and love the sounds of waves which i miss for a long long time. =)

Continue journey on the road, passed by Flinders, then changed our direction towards inland. Stopped by Montalto vineyard. This is my first time seeing and entering a vineyard. Nice scenery, with a number of sculptures scattered around the vineyard. There's also a restaurant, but we didn't have any meals there. Had wine tasting there, and i like their Chardonnay. However, i didn't buy that. Instead, i bought myseld a bottle of their Late Harvest, which is a sweet white wine that will serve well as dessert wine together with ice cream.

The next stop was Arthur Seat, which is the highest point of Mornington Peninsula. Wanted to catch sunset there but we were too early. We didn't want to wait till sunset because all of us were very hungry. We actually missed lunch. Nevertheless, the view was nice, and being at the highest point, the breeze was strong and cold.

Our last stop was at Fisherman's Point. Had dinner at this fine dining restaurant named The Rocks. Shared with Kat-chan an entree of calamari and mussels, a bowl of chips, and spaghetti marinara as main dish. Nice and satisfying meal. =)

Got back to Garduate House around 9pm. Everyone was tired from the trip. Overall an enjoyable one!

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Been shifting back from holiday mode to study mode. Had group study sessions for the past 2 days, and one more tomorrow. Haven't done my CPAs which are due on this coming Tuesday. Drug calculations to be done too, as well as preparation for medication log quizes. Not to mention that Take Home Exam 2 is already uploaded to website this morning. Back to study!!

First day of clinical placement

Yesterday was my first day of clinical placement. Orientation day, did nothing much but to familiarise ourselves with the hospital and ward settings, and get to know the staffs. Attended the hand-over session at 1pm, and found that i cant catch most of the information >.<. Not familiar with all the abbreviations used. Kinda daunting in that session. Later today i'm going for the 2nd session. Will be paired up with a buddy nurse who will be looking over me for the entire shift. The bunion on my left foot hurts. Hope i will be fine for the entire shift today.

PS: sorry for the random sentences and inorganised thought.

Needles!!!

I've had the most needle pricks of my entire life in past two weeks! Blood tests, Mantoux test, and all the vaccinations required. And I'm feeling sick now. Fever and headache. >.<

Hope will get better tomorrow. If not i'm gonna screw my first aid lessons this weekend!! And the two assignments due next week!!!!

End of Week 3

It's been more than a month since i arrived in Melbourne! Weather here in Melbourne is definitely not as pleasant as in Brissie. Oh how i miss Brissie weather!

Studies are not easy. Getting more and more hectic each day. Looking forward to clinical placement, but anxious and scared at the same time. Don't really like to do assignments, especially essays. I just don't like writing. Having 2 assignments and 1 take-home exam due in the next 2 weeks are not fun at all. =(

Lappie has been giving me problem. Thinking of getting a new one, but budget is really really tight. The LCD screen has been off-tone, which makes my eyes watery and pain after less than 30 minutes looking at it.

Started gym on Friday. Have a whole program of weights and cardio designed for me. Muscles are not used to exercise mode after being inactive for more than 3 months. Signed up for swimming classes too. Started first lesson on Saturday morning. Being asked to swim without floater on the first lesson itself was scary. Other than that was not too bad after all. Practically collapsed after the swimming class. Went for nap (which I don't usually do) for about 1.5 hours.

Dinner on Sat was great. Walked to city with Renshao, Wan Hua, Walter, Yosuke, Mahsa and Natsuko, and met up with Grace in the city. Went to Ramen Ya, and i ordered Charshu Ramen with Tonkotsu Soup. I start to get sick of Grad House food, so any other food taste yummy! Walked to Lygon St for gelato after dinner. Mango and durian gelato! Yum yum!

I think that's all for now. Have to get back to studies. Ciao~
